Step-by-step process to buy or sell a DVC membership

HOW DVC WORKS

01

Create an account

You sign up with basic contact info—email, phone, that kind of stuff.

02

For Sellers

They also add details about their DVC membership. This helps auto-generate a contract once a buyer and seller agree.

03

Placing Offers

Buyers submit offers on specific DVC contracts/clubs. Sellers get notified instantly via email or text. From there, they can accept or counter.

04

Cost Transparency

All fees—like closing costs, title company fees, escrow—are clearly laid out in the offer. No hidden surprises. Nice and clean.

What Happens After Agreement

E-signing contracts:

  • Once an offer is accepted, both parties get an email invite to review and sign digitally.

Right of First Refusal (ROFR):

  • The signed contract heads to Disney, which has up to 30 days to decide if they want to buy the contract themselves.
  1. If Disney exercises ROFR: seller still gets the agreed price, and buyer gets a refund of any deposit.
  2. If Disney passes: deal moves forward.

The Closing Process

Closing docs:

  • Sent to buyer and seller. Seller signs in front of a notary.

Payments:

  • Buyer pays whatever remains via wire transfer unless they’re financing.
  • Seller’s payment goes via wire or overnight FedEx—once everything’s signed and funded.

Title agent steps in:

Confirms documents, funds, and finalizes the sale. The buyer becomes the official owner.

Keeping It Real: Traditional Roots

  • Paper trails & notarization bring that security of legacy methods.
  • ROFR is like a timeless safeguard that ensures Disney keeps control.
  • Title agents & escrow accounts provide trusted intermediaries, just like how deals have been sealed for ages.
